CAN Progress

As you can see on page “CAN-Messages” our CAN knowledge is getting somewhere.
Anyone has a (petrol) CAN vehicle plus Openport 2.0 device?
AFAIK EcuFlash software installs some source code – someone tried to compile and run the sniffing tool yet?
\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\samples\canlogger\
(That C++ code looks Windows specific, we’ve got our own running on Linux, depends on more libraries though.)
We’d certainly appreciate log files for comparison. These should not contain any sensitive data, if you don’t mind telling your current fuel level etc. that is.
By the way, on diesels we get roughly 850 messages per second.

  1. I have a 2008 USDM STI with an OP2.0. If you want, I can compile the code and run the sniffer and send you the results. Anything else you’d like other than my current fuel level (just filled up so it should be full)?

    • Thanks, that would be great.
Btw, you should be able to run the tool before ignition on, it’ll wait for messages, can capture everything this way.
Logs of IG ON – just wait half a minute or so without touching anything, and one of a very short drive would be ideal I think.
Noting ambient temp., approx fuel level would also help in order to verify a couple of things.

2011 STi USDM AE5I910V ECU might use these CAN-IDs:
      410
      411
      412
      420
      421
      422
      501
      512
      513
      514
      515
      520
      600
      601
      620

Five of them seem to be generated by the ECU:
      410
      411
      412
      600
      601

I am sure there are differences compared to diesel but any data could help for one or the other.
